In 2020 ACET continued to promote economic transformation at national, regional, and global levels. We did this through our flagship programs – the African Transformation Report, the African Transformation Index, the African Transformation Forum, the Transformation Leadership Program, and a rich portfolio of research, advisory support, and partnership engagements.
ACET contributes to the transformation of African countries by promoting economic growth with DEPTH (Diversification, Export competitiveness, Productivity, Technological upgrades and Human well-being). We use a blended approach which provides critical analysis of policy issues, advisory support to governments and development partners, and advocacy at the international, regional, and country levels.
On the international stage in 2020, ACET worked with the Group of 20 (G20) Compact with Africa (CwA) and provided support to the European Union/African Union (EU/AU) Partnership for Digitalization. Throughout the year, we engaged with members of the G20 and the Think20 (T20) at high-level forums and workshops on blended finance and investment, infrastructure, fiscal risks of public-private partnerships (PPPs), energy and water. Our briefing notes, reports, and peer-to-peer learning workshops created space for engagement with policy makers of G20 countries and the 12 Compact countries and indirectly impacted the work of international development partners such as the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the EU.
