Transformation Leadership Panel

An Initiative of the African Center for Economic Transformation (ACET)

The Transformation Leadership Panel (TLP), established by ACET in 2019, is a body of 17 eminent figures from Africa and around the world united by a shared vision and mission: to influence, support and advise leaders on critical and necessary action to achieve transformative change in Africa by 2030. The Panel is chaired by former Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.

Though many countries have experienced relatively strong growth in recent years, African leaders must confront increasingly urgent, and challenging, issues over the next decade: population growth and demographic shifts, climate change, regional integration and cooperation, technological innovation, improved health services and gender equality, to name a few. The ways in which public and private sector leaders tackle these issues will have a profound impact on the ability of countries to transform their economies—and on the human well-being of Africa’s people, especially women and youth.

The TLP believes that heightened leadership and elevated action hold the key to turning challenges into opportunities that support, Africa’s long-term transformation agenda. The TLP works toward three goals:

  • increase collaboration among development partners and institutions
  • to galvanize action among leaders and policymakers on Africa’s transformation
  • to advocate for Africa on the global stage.

The TLP is driven by an overarching objective of promoting gender parity in leadership across all sectors of African society.
