The Transformative Innovation Africa Hub (TIAH), a platform for advancing transformative technology policy and supporting science and technology ecosystems in Africa, has appointed Rob Floyd, Director for Innovation and Digital Policy at the African Center for Economic Transformation (ACET), to its Advisory Board.
TIAH is hosted by the Future Africa Campus at the University of Pretoria and works on four programs: transdisciplinary research, policy experimentation, evaluation, and capacity building. It collaborates with various partners, such as the Transformative Innovation Policy Consortium (TIPC), the Deep Transitions Lab (DTL), the Graduate School of Technology Management (GSTM), the Department of Science and Innovation (DSI) South Africa, and science, technology, and innovation policy agencies across Africa.
TIAH and ACET share a common vision of promoting innovation and digital transformation in Africa. ACET’s Innovation and Digital practice has programs on artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, and emerging technologies. One of its recent initiatives is the AI in economic policymaking program, which can contribute to TIAH’s research and policy experimentation. Dr. Chux Daniels, an ACET non-resident senior fellow, is the Director of TIAH and will facilitate the collaboration between the two organizations.
As a TIAH Advisory Board member, Mr. Floyd will provide input to TIAH products, facilitate access to ideas and networks, and provide strategic advice that supports TIAH’s development impacts.
