Accra, Ghana. August 14, 2024 – The African Center for Economic Transformation (ACET) has joined AIM Global, the Global Alliance on Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Industry and Manufacturing. This strategic collaboration reflects our commitment to advancing safe, sustainable, and inclusive use of AI in industry and manufacturing.
Guided by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and aligned with the UN Secretary-General’s Our Common Agenda, AIM Global promotes the responsible development and deployment of AI and frontier technologies and shapes a digital future that is open, secure, and beneficial to all.
ACET’s program on AI in economic policymaking in Africa is well aligned with AIM Global’s objectives and this partnership strengthens our network to inform industrial and trade policy.
“ACET is excited to join AIM Global, where forward-thinking partners collaborate to harness the power of AI responsibly,” said Rob Floyd, ACET Director for Innovation and Digital Policy. “By being part of this community, we anticipate collaborative opportunities, innovative solutions, and a shared vision for the ethical and effective application of AI to unfold during this exciting journey.”
AI technologies are transforming industry and manufacturing, offering unprecedented opportunities for increased efficiency, productivity, and sustainability. However, the adoption of these technologies also brings ethical considerations, privacy concerns, and the imperative for inclusivity. As a new member, ACET is excited to contribute to AIM Global’s mission of unlocking the full potential of AI for industry.
