The study is part of a larger project, the Smallholder Farmer Voices in Policy Discourse, which seeks to promote informed agricultural policy dialogue focused on inclusivity and value creation among a wide range of stakeholders including policy makers, representatives of farmers, innovators in the private sector, and civil society.
The Market Linkages Study aims to analyze food systems and weaknesses of smallholder farmers and traders. It proposes recommendations for improving agricultural markets for smallholder farmers while connecting them to policymakers.
The validation workshop will seek feedback from stakeholders on the accuracy of the information gathered. It will also be an opportunity to get extra inputs into the final report while stimulating a dialogue between the stakeholders on the key objectives of the study.
The workshop also aims to start a discussion at the national level among major stakeholders on issues affecting smallholder farmers and their ability to influence and be more involved in the policy making process in Ghana.
The validation workshop will bring together a range of stakeholders with experience on the challenges that smallholder farmers face in markets. It will also consider the innovations and policies needed to enhance market access and performance.
