Video: TLP 2nd meeting in Addis Ababa

The African Center for Economic Transformation (ACET) convened a second meeting of the Transformation Leadership Panel (TLP) in Addis Ababa, to work on developing a coordinated approach to addressing Africa’s urgent economic challenges.

The meeting was hosted by the Economic Commission for Africa in Addis Ababa and was co-chaired by Vera Songwe, ECA Executive Secretary and K.Y Amoko, Founder and President of ACET, who are also members of the TLP. Other panel members who attended the meeting included Acha Leke, Chair, Africa Region, McKinsey & Company, Ann Cotton OBE, Founder and Trustee, Camfed International,  Dolika Banda, Non-Executive Director, CDC Group Plc, Gayle Smith, President and CEO, One Campaign, Ndidi Nwuneli, Founder, Leap Africa, Reeta Roy, President & CEO, The MasterCard Foundation and Stefano Manservisi, former Director-General of the European Commission’s Directorate General for International Cooperation and Development (DEVCO).

According to K.Y. Amoako, “the TLP formed because we saw a gap in the way some increasingly urgent issues are being addressed in Africa, particularly in relation to the long-term viability of economic transformation strategies. We believe that heightened leadership is the key to understanding the full scope of these challenges and addressing them in ways that will lead to a more secure future for Africa.”

Last week’s meeting followed the inaugural meeting of the panel in Accra, Ghana in July 2019, and built on the discussions and consensus reached in Accra.
