Event Overview
ACET and partners Nathan Associates, CDG, IREDD, and CEPAR, in collaboration with the Liberian Ministry of Agriculture, will convene a virtual inception meeting to engage key stakeholders on a one-year study on Regional Collaboration on Overcoming Binding Constraints on the Growth of Liberia’s Cocoa Value Chain under the LEPDA project.

LEPDA is a USAID-funded four-year technical assistance, capacity development, and grants project that aims to foster self-reliance by spurring private sector-led economic expansion in Liberia.

This meeting will enable the team to fine-tune the nature, content, scope, and design of the proposed activities. The workshops will target the key players involved in Liberia’s cocoa sector: government and policymakers, farmer organizations, the private sector, development partners, and the media.

The goals of the meeting will be to share project objectives with a wider audience and to obtain feedback and complementary information to help in shaping and executing the project.
The specific objectives of the meeting are three-fold:

  1. To bring together key stakeholders whose contributions will be crucial to the study and key informants who can provide valuable information that will be the subject of the discussions.
  2. To bring on board a strategic team of policymakers and partners who will support the research process.
  3. To obtain feedback and fill gaps in the inception report to enhance policy reforms and uptake, and chart a way forward in policymaking and agenda setting towards enhancing the cocoa industry in Liberia.

Participants

The meeting will bring together experts and senior officials from key government ministries and agencies in Liberia, farmer-based organizations, CSOs, academia, industry players, media, and other actors that are key to advancing the cocoa industry in Liberia.
