As part of a continent-wide effort to deep dive into the challenges confronting African economies in their economic transformation trajectory, ACET in partnership with the Institute of Statistical and Economic Research (ISSER) and other think tanks, is conducting a multi-country Economic Transformation Outlook (CETO) in six (6) African countries, of which Ghana, is one of the selected countries.
The overall objective of the Ghana Country Economic Transformation Outlook (CETO) is to undertake a comprehensive diagnostic of the country’s economic transformation progress and challenges and to offer policy advice to public and non-public actors. Specifically, the Ghana CETO seeks to deepen the economic transformation agenda by:
- Undertaking a gender-sensitive, comprehensive diagnostic of Ghana’s economic transformation progress and challenges and offer policy advice to public and non-public actors.
- Engaging the government in this process, with the view to create continuity in policy dialogue and effective uptake in national development plans and policies.
Objectives of the inception meeting
As a vital component of the project, the inception meeting presents an opportunity to refine the project focus and reach a common understanding among the team members on the nature, scope and content of the study. The objectives of the workshop will be to:
- Review the inception report, project focus, and discuss the research objectives.
- Discuss the key areas of policy interest and focus for the CETO and its alignment with the government’s Growth and Transformation Strategy.
- Review and discuss the methodology/ analytical/conceptual framework of the CETO.
- Discuss approaches for field work and ratification of the research instruments to be used for the field work.
- Finalize the work plan and timeline of the project.
- Revise the terms of reference and study activities to reflect the outcome of the inception meeting.
- Avenues and pathways for policy uptake of findings
