The G20 Compact with Africa (CWA) was launched in 2017 under the German G20 Presidency to promote private investment in Africa by increasing the attractiveness of private investment through improvements of the macro, business and financing frameworks. It brings together 13 African countries, (Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guinea, Morocco, Rwanda, Senegal, Togo and Tunisia) international organizations (AfDB, IFC, IMF, World Bank) and bilateral partners from G20 and others to support this objective. The initiative is demand-driven and open to all African countries. As part of the program, the African Center for Economic Transformation (ACET) was endorsed by Ministers of Finance for the G-20 Compact with Africa (CwA) to provide independent reviews of country progress; provide policy research and expert advice; and facilitate peer-learning opportunities in priority areas for member counties. To date, over 20 peer learning sessions have been held on topics such as domestic resource mobilization, diversification, blended financing, public-private partnership, etc.
Following recent engagement with member countries, ACET has put together a peer learning event on promoting investments in digital initiatives within CwA countries.
The Objectives of this Peer Learning event are to:
- Promote Digital Investments: Highlight the potential and opportunities for private sector investments in digital infrastructure and services across CwA countries.
- Facilitate Policy Dialogue: Create a platform for policymakers, private sector players, and financial institutions to discuss policies and frameworks necessary to foster a conducive environment for digital investments.
- Share Best Practices: Enable peer learning through the exchange of successful digitalization strategies and initiatives among CwA countries.
- Strengthen Partnerships: Foster collaboration between governments, private sector, regional development banks, and development finance institutions to support digital initiatives.
