Event Overview

The African Center for Economic Transformation (ACET) and the Center for Global Development (CGD) are co-hosting this panel discussion on domestic resource mobilization (DRM) in Africa to meet post-COVID19 economic and social challenges. African governments cannot rely only on increased aid and will instead need to mobilize their own resources for investments in health, education, and social services. They will need to mobilize their own resources especially for investments in health, education and social services and other government interventions whose social return is realized over 10-20 years and is hard to capture. How can governments restart the process of increasing DRM?

This event will feature African government officials, private sector representatives and domestic revenue mobilization experts and will be moderated by Gyude Moore, Senior Policy Fellow, Center for Global Development (CGD) and Edward Brown, Senior Director of Research & Policy Engagements, African Center for Economic Transformation (ACET).
