Who We Are
ACET is a pan-African economic policy institute supporting Africa’s long-term growth through transformation.
We produce research, offer policy advice, and connect key stakeholders so that African countries are better positioned for smart, inclusive, and sustainable development.
We support Africa’s growth with DEPTH by providing analysis, advice, and advocacy across seven critical issues. We believe that African countries will strengthen their long-term transformation agendas by taking smart policy action in these areas.
CLIMATE & AGRICULTURE
Agricultural modernization offers a crucial path to industrialization and economic transformation for decent job creation in many African countries.
ECONOMIC MANAGEMENT & GOVERNANCE
Africa’s economic growth will not by itself sustain development on the continent.
Gender inequality is one of the greatest threats to economic transformation in Africa.
INNOVATION & DIGITAL POLICY
Innovation and digital solutions provide immense opportunities for Africa to transform its economies and societies.
PRIVATE SECTOR DEVELOPMENT
Transforming Africa within a generation requires a sustainable and competitive private sector.

KNOW THE BEGINNING WELL
BY K.Y. AMOAKO
The best way to plan for the future is to know as much as possible about the past. This book offers an inside look at Africa’s development journey across five decades, told through the eyes of someone who made the same trip. It is a personal account of some landmark people, policies, and institutions that have shaped Africa’s postcolonial history—and will continue to shape its future.
