Moving Beyond Aid—Revenue Mobilization: G20 Compact with Africa

Remarks by K.Y. Amoako at the second G20 Compact with Africa (CWA) meeting

On behalf of the African Economic Center for Transformation, welcome and thank you for taking the time to join us in Accra. ACET is honored to co-host and convene this meeting with the Government of Ghana and the IMF. The conference is one example of the Government of Ghana’s renewed commitment to improve human well being within the borders of this country as well as beyond.

I wish to thank Minister Ofori-Atta for his commitment, and my good friend Natalia Koliadina, whose leadership at the IMF has been critical in bringing us together today. Thank you both for associating ACET with such an important event.

The Compact With Africa is a primary pillar of the G20 Partnership With Africa that was launched under the German Government’s G20 presidency. It represents bold thinking in how we finance and implement sustainable and transformative development initiatives in Africa. It is only about one year old, but the early progress is encouraging.
