The Forum, held at the University of Ghana, was the first step in plans by the two organizations to build policy platforms on agricultural transformation in five African countries – Burkina Faso, Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
The Forum brought together stakeholders in agriculture and agribusiness, including policymakers, private sector, civil society, academia, development partners and various youth in agriculture networks.
The meeting drew on ACET’s flagship 2017 publication, titled Agriculture Powering Africa’s Economic Transformation. It was further resourced by papers presented on four priority areas selected by the two organizations for joint research and advocacy work. The four areas are markets, skills, land tenure and agro-processing.
